Shorten urges NDIS participants to report overcharging

Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Bill Shorten has urged NDIS participants to report any suspected overcharging for goods or services.

“If you think you’ve been overcharged for NDIS goods or services, I urge you to report it,” Shorten said.

“We have a zero-tolerance approach to fraud and overcharging in the NDIS, and we will take strong action against any providers who are found to be doing the wrong thing.”

Participants can report suspected overcharging by contacting the NDIS Fraud Hotline on 1800 650 195 or by emailing fraud@ndis.gov.au.

Shorten said the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission) is also working to strengthen its oversight of the scheme and ensure that participants are getting value for money.

“The NDIS Commission is cracking down on providers who are not meeting their obligations, and we will continue to take action to protect participants from being ripped off,” Shorten said.

Conclusion

The NDIS is a vital safety net for people with disability, and it is important that participants have confidence that they are getting value for money for the goods and services they receive.

If you suspect that you have been overcharged, please report it to the NDIS Fraud Hotline or by email. The NDIS Commission is working to strengthen its oversight of the scheme and ensure that participants are getting value for money.

Together, we can ensure that the NDIS is a fair and equitable scheme that supports people with disability to live their best lives.
