TEAM USA DEFEATS SOUTH SUDAN IN OLYMPIC EXHIBITION
JAMES LEADS THE WAY WITH 25 POINTS
Americans rally from 16-point deficit to claim 101-100 victory
LAS VEGAS (AP) — LeBron James scored a game-high 25 points, including the winning basket, as Team USA rallied from a 16-point deficit to defeat South Sudan 101-100 in an exhibition game Sunday night.
The Americans closed the third quarter on a 21-5 run, with Devin Booker's 3-pointer with 58 seconds left in the period tying the score at 76. James then gave Team USA its first lead since early in the second quarter with a jumper about a minute into the fourth.
South Sudan regained the lead briefly, but James' driving layup with 4:03 remaining put the Americans ahead for good. After South Sudan cut the lead to one with about a minute to play, James made 1 of 2 free throws to give Team USA a two-point cushion.
Team USA will wrap up its exhibition schedule with a game against Spain on Tuesday night in Malaga, Spain.
