Southgate Resigns as England Manager

Gareth Southgate has resigned as manager of the England men's team, two days after their defeat by Spain in the 2024 European Championship final.

Southgate took over as manager in 2016, following the departure of Sam Allardyce, and led England to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and the final of Euro 2020.

He will remain in charge until after the European Championships in 2024, the Football Association has confirmed.

In a statement, Southgate said: "I am incredibly proud to have had the opportunity to manage my country. It has been an honour and a privilege to lead the team and to represent the Three Lions with such passion and pride."

"I would like to thank the players, the staff, the fans and the Football Association for their incredible support over the past six years."

"I wish the team all the best for the future and I am confident that they will continue to be successful under the new manager."

Southgate's departure is a blow to English football, and he will be remembered as one of the most successful managers in the Three Lions' history.
