Busch Triumphs in First Auto Club 400

Busch Takes Checkered Flag After Down Season

Kyle Busch, driving for Richard Childress Racing, emerged victorious in the inaugural Pala Casino 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Busch's win marks a significant moment in the history of the track, as it was the final NASCAR Cup Series race held at the iconic Southern California venue.

Despite enduring a disappointing season in 2022, Busch proved that he remains a formidable force on the track. Starting from the 17th position, Busch gradually moved through the field, staying patient and waiting for the right moment to strike. With just over 20 laps remaining, Busch took the lead and held off a late challenge from Erik Jones to secure the victory.

Busch's win is his first with Richard Childress Racing and his 61st career Cup Series victory. It is also the first win for RCR since Tyler Reddick's victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July 2022.

The race weekend at Auto Club Speedway was marred by several incidents, including a multi-car crash on lap 70 that resulted in the race being red-flagged for nearly 20 minutes. Despite the setbacks, the event provided a fitting farewell to a beloved NASCAR track.
